T-DIT OPENING ROUND: Meadowbrook Girls, Matoaca Boys Fall; Cosby Girls Prevail...

It was a 1-2 record for Chesterfield County in the first round of the 2013 Times-Dispatch Invitational Tournament Friday night.

Freshman Morgan Batie scored 19 points but it wasn't enough to combat the combined 51 point effort of Patrick Henry's senior dynamic duo of Summer Price and Amber Lee as the Patriots handed Meadowbrook their first loss of the season, 59-46.  The Monarchs fall to 6-1 and next face Glen Allen in the consolation round tomorrow at 10:30am.

The Matoaca boys fought valiantly against defending state champion Henrico before falling 67-60 in the battle of Warriors. Matoaca will face Trinity Episcopal at 1:30pm in consolation round action.

Cosby's girls team, the defending T-DIT Girls Champions, held off a pesky Glen Allen squad 58-47 to advance to the semifinals, where they will face Patrick Henry at 5pm. Hermitage and Highland Springs were also victorious and will meet in the first girls semifinal at 3:30pm.

Boys semis are Benedictine vs. Highland Springs and Henrico vs. Armstrong, at 6:30 and 8pm.

ALL games tomorrow in the T-DIT will be played at Randolph-Macon College's Crenshaw Gymnasium; first game tips at 9am.
