#3 MANCHESTER 26, #9 COSBY 0: Lancers improve to 7-0 with impressive road victory, shutting down the Titans on their Homecoming night. Manchester one of three remaining unbeaten teams (Hermitage, Highland Springs). Titans now fighting to ensure playoff spot in 6A South.

#4 L.C. BIRD 73, HUGUENOT 0: Skyhawks score 35 points in first quarter in a series that should be dropped. #Bird moves to 6-1 ahead of hosting Cosby, who's on a two-game losing streak, next Friday.

#6 THOMAS DALE 42, COLONIAL HEIGHTS 0: Two teams in completely opposite directions, as the Knights win their 5th straight after an 0-2 start, while the Colonials, after starting 2-0, have lost their last five. Chalk up two more touchdowns for Thomas Dale's Eric Finney. With the win, and Cosby's loss, the Knights will likely jump the Titans in the VHSL point standings in 6A South for the fourth seed, which ensures a first round home game. But nothing is clinched yet.

MEADOWBROOK 40, PRINCE GEORGE 7: A huge win for the Monarchs on the road, solidifying their position at #8, the final playoff spot open in 5A South Central. The Royals were their biggest threat, but fail to get a key victory, falling to 3-4. The Monarchs are, too, 3-4, but a strong schedule, earning them bonus points, helps that average when the numbers are crunched in Charlottesville.

JAMES RIVER 51, CLOVER HILL 23: The Rapids have two impressive victories in as many weeks, as James River built a 37-7 halftime lead on the road, improving to 5-3. The Rapids have a bye, then must go to Manchester Halloween night.

#10 DINWIDDIE 28, MATOACA 24: The Warriors fall to 2-5, but not without an impressive effort on the road, as Matoaca saw their lead disappear multiple times, as Jamison Harrison's 235 yards and three touchdowns weren't enough. The Generals have won six straight since opening the year with a loss to Monacan.

MIDLOTHIAN 43, GEORGE WYTHE 0: The Trojans get their first win of 2014 in impressive fashion, as Derrick Saunders rumbled for 92 yards and three touchdowns.
