Four County Teams Enter Preseason Big 12 High School Football Poll

The preseason NBC12/RVA Sports Network Big 12 High School Football Poll was released by both organizations Tuesday evening, with some familiar faces in the rankings from Chesterfield County.

L.C. Bird, who began last season at #1, begins 2016 at #2 as they prepare to travel to Meadowbrook for their opener Friday evening. The Skyhawks look to play for their fourth state championship in five years.

At #5 are the Knights of Thomas Dale, who have a very interesting mix or returning talent and newcomers who hope to absorb graduation losses and make another run in 6A South, where they advanced to the state semifinals last season. Their schedule is tough, hosting L.C. Bird next Friday, September 2nd, but starting the campaign this Friday at.....

....#10 Cosby, who hopes to return to the 6A South playoffs as well, led by the rushing attack of Joe Hunt. The Titans are always competitive and look to be a tough test for Thomas Dale opening night, and, vice versa.

Also ranked, at #7, are the Manchester Lancers. Coach Tom Hall's squad looks to avoid the injury bug as they return a core of very talented players on both sides of the ball. Manchester hosts Matoaca to start the season Friday on our RVA Sports Network Game of The Week.

CLICK HERE to listen to Matoaca at Manchester beginning Friday at 7:15pm
